Two distinct services that cater to seniors who wish to stay living at home.  It’s beneficial to know the difference and what is available to you.

  1. Location

Adult Day: Provided in a communal setting outside of the home.  Members of our club attend at our facility inside Love of Christ Church, St. Cloud, MN.

Home Care: Services are delivered in the individual’s home, allowing them to remain in a familiar environment.

  1. Setting and social interaction

Adult Day: Group setting where people can socialize and participate in activities, engage with peers in a structured and stimulating environment.

Home Care: Focuses on one-on-one care, limiting the social aspect.  The emphasis is on personalized attention and assistance.

  1. Flexibility

Adult Day: Operates during specific hours during the week and members return home in the afternoon.

Home Care: Provides more flexibility in terms of scheduling. Care can be tailored to specific hours, including overnight or 24/7 care, depending on the individual’s needs.

  1. Cost

Adult Day: Much more affordable option about half the cost of homecare.

Home Care: Can be more expensive, especially for around-the-clock care, as it involves dedicated one-on-one attention.

  1. Independence

Adult Day: Promotes socialization and engagement in a group setting, fostering a sense of community and independence.

Home Care: Allows individuals to receive care in the comfort of their own homes, maintaining a high level of independence.

Ultimately, the choice between adult day services and home care depends on the individual’s needs, preferences, and the level of support required. It’s essential to consider factors such as socialization, cost, and the nature of care when making this decision.
